April 20-27, 2008

This week was an exciting week. We shall start with the one you are all here to catch up with. Easton had two big accomplishments this week. The first was he finally finished his first round of immunizations, getting his last shot on Wednesday. He was such a big, tough boy. He cried a little when he was set down, but he didn't cry any louder/longer/sadder when he was given his shot and as soon as he was picked up, the crying stopped. The older he gets, the tougher he is.

The second big accomplishment has to do with his weight. After seeing the doctor, we found out that he doesn't have that big of a head (47th percentile; I think, I am trying to recall these off the top of my head), two, he is tall (87th percentile), but, most importantly, he is very skinny (33rd percentile). So the doctor recommended that we do some things to bulk the little guy up. This leads us to accomplishment number two: He had his first "real" meal this week. He was given his first serving of rice cereal, which he promptly gobbled up, though showing a disgusted look with every bite. On his second night, he ate TWO servings of cereal. So, he is off to a great start. We figure that if he keeps eating at this rate, he might get a fun flavor this next weekend.

Tara is still going to her exercise class 3 times a week. The class started out small, but has now grown to over 15 moms and their babies. Her class has gotten so large, that the local residents have complained about the caravan of post-pregnant women and their strollers so they have had to find another route to work themselves back to their pre-pregnancies forms. Ha ha.

Another big accomplishment in our family is John. He started in the clinic this week. Now, he isn't actually seeing patients, but he is doing his assists where he assists in the procedures/surgeries and then gets grilled by the residents/doctors. He is excited to be out of the classroom and putting all the knowledge he has obtained the last two years to good use.

Yeah for Easton's accomplishments! That has to be heart-breaking watching him get stuck by a needle. And I didn't know there were such things as baby/mommy exercise classes. What a great idea!
